The Truth About Acne Products

The Real Deal On Acne Products

What would you think if I told you that there are people who use engine degreaser to wash their hair, rust remover to cleanse their face, and aircraft deicer to moisturize their body?  Maybe you’d think that those people were either crazy or, at the least, very strange.  Guess what?  If you’re using mainstream products in those categories, you’re one of those people.  Most personal care products contain the same ingredients in them that are designed for the above uses.

Besides being undesirable, these ingredients can actually be harmful to your body.  The toxic chemicals are absorbed through your skin and into your blood stream, which carries them to vital organs.  Over time, these chemicals build up and the organs themselves become highly toxic, affecting the natural processes of those organs.  Now that can’t be healthy, can it?

The ads on television, radio, and in print all encourage consumers to use acne treatments, cleansing creams, night masks, daytime moisturizers, face foundations, make-up, and many more personal products.  But, as we’ve said, most of these every-day products are filled with harmful industrial chemicals.  By themselves, these toxins are banned and not allowed near the general public for safety concerns.  But some personal care products contain more than 100 times the allowable limit of these chemicals, which are harmful to sensitive skin. This not only makes acne worse but it can cause other health problems, as well.

Why, then, would anyone deliberately put these chemicals in their products?  The truth is that they’re used as preservatives to keep the product viable over a long shelf life.  Man-made chemicals are also  cheaper than the equivalent natural substances.  While this means all-around savings and higher profit for manufacturers, you have to worry about the subsequent health concerns.

Did You Know?

  • 1 square inch of skin contains 100 sebaceous glands and 600 sweat glands that are used for both absorbing and releasing.
  • The average woman applies more than 200 chemicals to her body each day, most of which initiate an immune response from the body.
  • In an average human lifespan, over 150 lbs. of toxic chemicals will be absorbed into the blood stream through the skin.
  • These facts become all the more dangerous when you look at the statistics from an investigation by the Environmental Working Group:
  • 51% of products currently on the market contain at least one ingredient linked to cancer.
  • 57% of all products contain “penetration enhancer” chemicals designed to drive ingredients faster and deeper into the skin, where they can come into contact with the blood vessels.
  • 74% of all products contain harmful impurities such as known human carcinogens, those substances that can induce cancer, according to the FDA.  These impurities are legal and unrestricted for the personal care product industry.
  • 99.7% of the ingredients found in 14.086 common brand-name products have not been assessed for safety.

Though these are shocking figures, the worst part is that the facts, though not talked about by manufacturers, are also not hidden from the public.  Anyone can see the ingredient list on the back of a bottle or container but, because we don’t know what all of those big words mean and don’t take the time to look them up, we shrug it off and use the product, anyway.

In the meantime, when any attempt to regulate or outlaw these chemicals is made, the product manufacturers successfully fight the move with the full backing of their resources.  Remember, they’re businesses and a business needs customers to survive.

Would You Use Toxic Chemicals?

If a salesman standing on a street corner offered you a bottle of shampoo and told you that it contained a toxic chemical that caused hair loss, eye cataracts, and neurological disorders, would you take it home and use it?  Probably not.  So why do we rush to purchase the same shampoo when it’s wrapped up in glossy packaging and appears in the hand of a celebrity on a professional television advertisement?

Pai Skin Care

Like with acne medications, personal care products won’t solve the problem naturally or in a healthy way.  In fact, they can be quite damaging.  On top of that, most will make your acne worse by introducing into your system the very toxins that cause acne in the first place.  If you want to stop this vicious cycle, look into natural personal care products, such as the Pai Skin Care range.  These products contain 100% natural ingredients that are strong enough to fight acne but healthy enough to encourage good skin and body wellness.
